Summary: The Power BI Architect role involves leading the design and implementation of enterprise-level BI solutions for a major data transformation programme within a prominent UK retail enterprise. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and architect enterprise-level Power BI solutions
- Define and implement BI best practices (data modelling, governance, security, performance optimisation)
- Lead on semantic model design and scalable reporting frameworks
- Collaborate closely with data engineering teams across Azure-based platforms
- Engage senior stakeholders to translate business requirements into strategic BI solutions
- Establish standards and provide technical leadership across the programme
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Power BI Architect or Lead BI Consultant in large enterprise environments
- Strong expertise in Power BI (Service, Desktop, Dataflows, DAX optimisation, deployment pipelines)
- Advanced data modelling experience (star schema, performance tuning, governance frameworks)
- Experience working with Azure data platforms (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, Lakehouse architectures)
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills at senior/board level
- Experience defining BI strategy and best practice in complex organisations
- Retail or large consumer-facing industry experience is advantageous but not essential

We’re supporting a leading global Microsoft-focused consultancy delivering a major data transformation programme for one of the UK’s most recognisable retail enterprises. They’re seeking an experienced Power BI Architect to play a key role in shaping and leading enterprise-scale BI solutions within a complex, fast-paced environment. This is a high-visibility contract with significant impact across a large-scale data ecosystem.
The Role
As Power BI Architect, you will:
- Design and architect enterprise-level Power BI solutions
- Define and implement BI best practices (data modelling, governance, security, performance optimisation)
- Lead on semantic model design and scalable reporting frameworks
