Summary: We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a significant public sector data and digital programme. This hands-on contract role requires a strong PostgreSQL specialist with expertise in complex, enterprise-scale environments. The position is remote-based and classified as outside IR35. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and optimising production database environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the PostgreSQL technical SME across critical platforms
- Support, optimise, and maintain production database environments
- Resolve complex incidents and performance issues
- Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and engineering teams
- Contribute to platform resilience, security, and automation
Key Skills:
- Strong PostgreSQL administration and engineering experience
- Performance tuning, optimisation, and troubleshooting
- High availability, replication, backup, and recovery
- Linux administration and Scripting skills
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure)
- Automation and DevOps tooling experience desirable
- Ability to work within secure, highly regulated environments
- UK based candidates only
