PostgreSQL DBA

Summary: We are seeking a Postgres Database Administrator (DBA) to support our on-premise PostgreSQL environment and assist in migrating to a hybrid cloud architecture. The role involves database administration, maintenance, and collaboration with development teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PostgreSQL and a solid understanding of database management practices. This position is remote and requires a proactive approach to database optimization and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and optimize on-prem PostgreSQL databases.
• Perform database migrations, backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
• Create and modify database objects using DDL (e.g., tables, indexes, stored procedures).
• Work with development teams to understand downstream impacts of schema changes.
• Collaborate on the migration of databases to the cloud (target completion: August).
• Support regular deployment schedules.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation with a primary/secondary model.
• Ensure database availability, reliability, and security in a Linux environment.
• Work within a collaborative team that values shared responsibility and support.

Key Skills:

• 5+ Years of professional experience administering PostgreSQL in on-prem environments (not solely cloud-hosted).
• Professional exposure to multi-tenant environments utilizing a variety of data sources.
• Adept ability with SQL statements, table joins, views, stored procedures, etc.
• Professional experience with either SQL Server or Oracle databases.
• Strong knowledge of DDL and the ability to assess the impact of changes across applications.
• Basic Linux administration and shell scripting in a command line environment.
