Summary: The PHP and WordPress Developer role is focused on restoring and maintaining the NC Museum of Natural Sciences website. The position requires immediate availability to address urgent issues related to website functionality, including login access and content management. The developer will also provide short-term maintenance recommendations and documentation for ongoing support. This is a remote position based in the USA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Website Access Restoration: Diagnose and repair issues related to the missing WordPress login PHP file, restoring the login functionality for administrative and content management access.
- Static Pages Restoration: Diagnose and repair issues related to the inability to make live changes to the static portions of the site.
- Codebase Stabilization: Identify problematic custom PHP code, outdated plugins, and legacy configurations that contribute to website instability, applying fixes as necessary to support ongoing use.
- Content Management Support: Make minor updates to improve navigation and usability where feasible, given the current structure, to facilitate better access for public users and ease of content management.
- Short-Term Maintenance Recommendations: Provide guidance on maintaining the website's operability over the short term, including essential updates and monitoring for potential points of failure.
- Documentation: Document any repairs, temporary fixes, or recommendations for the NCMNS team to maintain site functionality and address minor issues.
