Summary: The PeopleSoft Payroll Lead is responsible for leading end-to-end implementations, upgrades, and support projects for PeopleSoft Payroll within higher education environments. This role requires functional and technical leadership across Payroll, HR, and Financials modules, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and overseeing payroll processing cycles. The position also involves collaboration with various stakeholders to gather requirements and drive system enhancements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the Education sector and a strong focus on PeopleSoft HCM/Payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end PeopleSoft Payroll implementations, upgrades, and support projects
  • Provide functional and technical leadership across Payroll, HR, and Financials modules, especially within higher education environments
  • Manage and configure Commitment Accounting, including labor distribution, encumbrances, and funding allocations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (HR, Finance, Academic departments) to gather requirements and translate them into scalable solutions
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, tax laws, and institutional policies
  • Oversee payroll processing cycles, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Lead system integration efforts between PeopleSoft HRMS, Financials, and third-party systems
  • Drive system enhancements, performance tuning, and automation initiatives
  • Mentor junior team members and provide strategic direction for payroll operations
  • Support audits, data validation, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for issue resolution and continuous improvement
