Peoplesoft EDI consultant, Remote

Role Summary

We're looking for a PeopleSoft functional consultant with strong domain expertise in customer onboarding, including EDI setup and trading-partner onboarding workflows. This person will assess our current ad hoc process, identify gaps and risks, and produce a practical playbook/business process (BP) that our team can operationalize. Strong communication skills are essential this role works directly with the SME, developer, and business stakeholders, and will need to translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations and status updates.

Key Responsibilities

• Phase 1 (2-4 weeks, fixed): Conduct a structured analysis of the existing customer onboarding process, including interviews with the current SME and developer, spreadsheet/data review, and documentation of the as-is workflow.
• Identify and document gaps, bottlenecks, risks, and inconsistencies in the current process.
• Bring industry best practices for customer onboarding with EDI (trading partner setup, EDI mapping/testing, go-live validation, etc.) and apply them to our context.
• Design and document a formal Business Process (BP) playbook for customer onboarding covering process steps, roles/responsibilities, handoffs, exception handling, and documentation standards.
• Recommend a target-state process and, where applicable, tooling/tracking improvements to replace the manual spreadsheet approach.
• Provide regular status reporting on analysis progress, findings, open issues, and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with the existing SME and developer to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.
• Support ongoing part-time execution of the improved process post-analysis phase.

Required Qualifications

• Sr. Level expertise of PeopleSoft EDI
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong functional understanding of customer onboarding processes, specifically within a PeopleSoft environment.
• Solid working knowledge/expertise of EDI concepts and onboarding of EDI trading partners (transaction sets, mapping, testing/certification, go-live support).
• Demonstrated experience creating business process documentation/playbooks.
• Experience conducting gap analysis on manual or ad hoc business processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting findings and business stakeholders. Documentation of a Play Book is a deliverable.
• Strong interpersonal skills able to work collaboratively with existing SME/developer without disrupting current operations.
• Self-directed; able to scope and deliver a time-boxed analysis phase (2-4 weeks) without additional help.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with PeopleSoft Order-to-Cash or Customer Data Management modules.
• Experience standing up or maturing onboarding processes at other organizations.
• Familiarity with process/workflow documentation tools.
