Summary: The role involves leading the migration from Cisco Viptela and Meraki to Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN as a senior-level remote deployment engineer. Responsibilities include directing on-site technicians, configuring devices, and ensuring integration with the client's core network. The position requires expertise in enterprise routing and automation to facilitate seamless deployment and troubleshooting. Candidates should possess hands-on experience with Palo Alto technologies and a strong understanding of network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) and advanced configuration of Palo Alto ION devices remotely using Strata Cloud Manager.
  • Act as the primary technical lead during migration windows, directing on-site technicians on cabling, physical connectivity, and initial power-up validation.
  • Architect and implement complex enterprise routing, specifically BGP, to ensure seamless traffic flow between the new Prisma SD-WAN edge and the existing corporate network.
  • Translate existing Cisco Viptela policies and Meraki configurations into modern Prisma SD-WAN constructs.
  • Own the technical escalation during cutover windows, rapidly resolving IP addressing, routing, or policy application issues.
  • Leverage Strata Cloud Manager (SCM) REST APIs, Terraform, or Python to automate bulk site deployments, policy pushes, and template management.
  • Utilize Palo Alto's AIOps for Networks and ADEM to establish baselines and predictively identify WAN/LAN anomalies.

Key Skills:

  • Deep, hands-on experience with modern Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN.
  • Proven experience managing, configuring, and monitoring network infrastructure through Strata Cloud Manager.
  • Mid-to-expert-level understanding of BGP and standard IPv4/IPv6 addressing schemes.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Viptela and Meraki dashboards.
  • Proven ability to interact with Palo Alto APIs and experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or scripting with Python.
  • Hands-on experience using Palo Alto's AI/ML telemetry tools within SCM.

Detailed Description From Employer:

Project Overview and Engineering Req'ts:
We are executing a large, enterprise-wide migration for our client from Cisco Viptela and Cisco Meraki to Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN. We're seeking 3 x senior-level, remote deployment engineers to drive the configuration, integration, and cutover phases. Engineers will not be racking hardware; instead, they will be the remote technical authority directing on-site smart hands, configuring devices via Strata Cloud Manager (SCM), and ensuring seamless integration with the client's enterprise core.

Resource Core Responsibilities:
Remote Deployment & Provisioning: Execute zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) and advanced configuration of Palo Alto ION devices remotely using Strata Cloud Manager.
Smart Hands Coordination: Act as the primary technical lead during migration windows, directing on-site technicians on cabling, physical connectivity, and initial power-up validation.
Routing & Integration: Architect and implement complex enterprise routing, specifically BGP, to ensure seamless traffic flow between the new Prisma SD-WAN edge and the existing corporate network.
Migration Engineering: Translate existing Cisco Viptela policies and Meraki configurations into modern Prisma SD-WAN constructs (app-defined routing, QoS, security policies).
Troubleshooting & Cutover Support: Own the technical escalation during cutover windows, rapidly resolving IP addressing, routing, or policy application issues.
Scale via Automation: Leverage Strata Cloud Manager (SCM) REST APIs, Terraform, or Python to automate bulk site deployments, policy pushes, and template management, eliminating manual configuration drift.
Proactive AI-Driven Operations: Utilize Palo Alto s AIOps for Networks and ADEM (Autonomous Digital Experience Management) to establish baselines, predictively identify WAN/LAN anomalies, and accelerate root-cause analysis before user escalation.

Required Technical Skills:
Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN (Modern): Deep, hands-on experience with modern Prisma SD-WAN (Creation of Path Policies, templates, headend management, deployment strategy, etc.) Note: Candidates whose experience is limited exclusively to legacy CloudGenix environments will not be considered.
Strata Cloud Manager (SCM): Proven experience managing, configuring, and monitoring network infrastructure through Palo Alto s unified SCM interface.
Enterprise Routing: Mid-to-expert-level understanding of BGP (peering, route filtering, path manipulation, redistribution) and standard IPv4/IPv6 addressing schemes in large corporate environments.
Legacy SD-WAN (Bonus): Familiarity with Cisco Viptela (vManage/vSmart) and Meraki dashboards to understand the legacy environments being dismantled.
Automation Proficiency (Bonus): Proven ability to interact with Palo Alto APIs. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or scripting with Python is a massive plus for this scale.
AIOps (Bonus): Hands-on experience using Palo Alto's AI/ML telemetry tools within SCM to isolate performance bottlenecks across the hardware, ISP path, and application layer.
Experience in large retail environments is a plus.
