Summary: The Palo Alto Engineer role involves designing, implementing, and validating Palo Alto firewall solutions integrated with Azure environments. The position requires collaboration with Azure architects to ensure seamless integration with the overall landing zone design. This is a remote contract position lasting over six months. The engineer will be responsible for both technical documentation and hands-on deployment tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in workshop design sessions with the customer to create the Palo Alto/vWAN deployment design
- Develop detailed network deployment documentation including Palo Alto NGFW integration with Azure vWAN
- Create and configure Azure resources needed to support the Palo Alto appliances
- Implement Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) in the Azure environment
- Deploy and configure Azure vWAN connectivity with Palo Alto integration
- Configure North-South (N-S) and East-West (E-W) routing through the firewall infrastructure
- Configure Palo Alto to connect to Azure through ExpressRoute vWAN design (extending existing on-premises Palo Alto deployment)
- Test firewall policies as implemented by the client
- Test routing of the environment through the firewalls
- Test HA design implementation (if deployed)
- Perform administrative handover of the network infrastructure
- Review administrative processes for managing the network appliances
- Extend existing on-premises Palo Alto deployment to Azure cloud
- Provide routing, firewalling, and secure access to Azure environment over private connection
- Address external access security requirements
- Ensure seamless integration with Azure Enterprise Scale Landing Zone architecture
Key Skills:
- Experience with Palo Alto NGFW and Azure integration
- Strong understanding of network deployment and configuration
- Knowledge of Azure vWAN and ExpressRoute
- Ability to develop low-level design documentation
- Experience in firewall policy testing and validation
- Familiarity with high availability design and testing
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with Azure architects
