Summary: The Oracle DBA role involves managing and maintaining Oracle database environments with a focus on backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and patch management. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and monitor robust backup strategies using RMAN and Data Pump.
- Perform regular backup validation and recovery drills.
- Ensure compliance with RTO/RPO requirements.
- Architect and maintain DR environments using Oracle Data Guard, GoldenGate, or other replication technologies.
- Conduct periodic DR testing and failover simulations.
- Document DR procedures and maintain runbooks.
- Apply Oracle patches (PSUs, CPUs) across environments following change management protocols.
- Test patches in staging before production rollout.
- Monitor Oracle support for critical updates and vulnerabilities.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software.
- Monitor performance and tune databases for optimal efficiency.
- Manage user access, roles, and security policies.
Key Skills:
- Experience with Oracle database management.
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and execution.
