Summary: The Oracle Database Administrator (Advanced) role involves maintaining and updating the Reconnect System, managing production and non-production databases, and ensuring data security and performance. The position requires extensive experience with Oracle databases, including installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting. The role also includes providing emergency support for critical applications and utilizing AI tools for administrative tasks. This is a remote position based in Tallahassee, FL, for a duration of 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and updating the Reconnect System as needed.
- Managing and maintaining all production and non-production databases.
- Being responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration.
- Performing backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configuring database parameters and prototype designs against logical data models, and defining data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and warehousing requirements.
- Optimizing database access and allocating/re-allocating database resources for optimum configuration, database performance, and cost.
- Designing and developing Oracle Database in a standalone or Real Application Clusters (RAC) environment.
- Providing emergency after hours support for critical applications as needed upon the written approval of the Commerce Project Manager.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or other related field/equivalent work experience;
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration in a multiple platform environment;
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience working with Oracle;
- Database Administration skills such as Oracle installation and server build out for RAC or single instance;
- Experience with patching and upgrading Oracle Database (DB) to 18c/19c;
- Experience working in a development environment with application scheduled releases and experience with Procedural Language extension to Structured Query Language (PL/SQL);
- Experience with partitioning, performance tuning, and supporting multiple databases;
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience with performing general troubleshooting database maintenance activities including backup and recovery, capacity planning, and managing user accounts;
- Experience in identifying and documenting risk areas and mitigation strategies for process and procedure activities;
- Experience creating data design models, database architecture, and data repository design;
- Use AI-assisted scripting and tools to automate routine administrative tasks, optimize workflows, and reduce manual intervention across server, database, and cloud environments;
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience with Azure cloud platform;
