Summary: The Oracle Cloud Support Administrator (OCI) role is focused on managing and securing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) while ensuring compliance with security best practices. The position requires significant experience in cybersecurity and collaboration with various teams to enhance cloud capabilities. Key responsibilities include configuring OCI components, implementing security measures, and maintaining infrastructure-as-code practices. The role is remote and classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configuring and maintaining OCI infrastructure components such as compute, networking (VCNs, subnets, gateways), storage, and load balancers.
- Designing, deploying, and maintaining multi-cloud networking (Egress and Workload VCNs, firewall/NAT gateways, AWS transit) while enforcing traffic-control policies.
- Implementing and managing OCI Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies, compartments, dynamic groups, and federation.
- Securing OCI infrastructure according to CIS Benchmarks and cloud security best practices.
- Applying security patches and managing updates across OCI-hosted applications and services.
- Designing and operating an end-to-end monitoring, alerting, and reliability stack (Datadog, OCIMetrics, PagerDuty) with SLO/SLA tracking and cost optimization.
- Monitoring and responding to security alerts and events from OCI tools like Cloud Guard, Logging, and Security Zones.
- Building and maintaining an Infrastructure-as-Code pipeline using TerraformCloud for resource provisioning, GitHub for source control, and GitHubActions for CI/CD.
- Orchestrating configuration and patch management at scale with AnsibleAutomationPlatform.
- Configuring and maintaining backup, disaster recovery, and high availability setups within the OCI environment.
- Conducting regular reviews of access, entitlements, and audit logs to ensure least privilege and policy compliance.
- Assisting with security incident investigations and remediation within the OCI environment.
- Collaborating closely with security and infrastructure teams to enforce secure controls and infrastructure best practices (IaC, etc.).
- Working with developers, integration engineers, finance, and security stakeholders to enhance reliability and expand OCI capabilities.
- Actively monitoring, assessing, and recommending tactical and strategic initiatives based on new and emerging threats to cloud computing environments.
- Managing remediation efforts after security assessment findings identify weaknesses.
- Providing documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Key Skills:
- Experience working with security tools such as teleport, crowdstrike EDR, tenable, SIEM, etc.
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or related engineering roles.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience specifically with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- A strong understanding of OCI networking, IAM, compartments, security lists, and resource management.
- Experience with OCI-native security services (e.g., Cloud Guard, Security Zones, Logging, Vault).
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform preferred).
- Experience with Ansible Automation Platform or other configuration management tooling.
- A solid understanding of security best practices, including least privilege access, encryption, system hardening, vulnerability management, and key management.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA) as they apply to OCI.
- Experience supporting production-grade workloads in a cloud environment.
- Scripting knowledge (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and monitoring.
