Summary: The role of Oracle Cloud Infra (OCI) Administrator involves managing, securing, and optimizing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for a client. The ideal candidate should have extensive hands-on experience in OCI networking, IAM, and database administration, along with the ability to coordinate with stakeholders and resolve production issues. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day OCI operations, implementing security measures, and supporting database migrations. The position is contract-based for 12 months and requires availability for weekend support for critical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own day-to-day OCI operations: tenancy hygiene, compartments, tagging standards, quotas, and cost governance.
  • Administer IAM (users, groups, dynamic groups, policies), federation, and fine-grained access control; troubleshoot authorization issues.
  • Manage networking: VCNs, subnets (public/private), NAT/IGW/SL/DRG, routing, security lists, NSGs, and DMZ orchestration for zero-trust patterns.
  • Oversee ATP/Autonomous DB & DBaaS: patching, scaling, vulnerability management, connection wallet lifecycle, and performance basics.
  • Implement and maintain RMAN and OCI-native backups: policies, schedules, retention, validation, and recovery runbooks.
  • Configure and manage Monitoring, Alarms, Notifications (ONS); build operational dashboards and reports (usage, security, cost, availability).
  • Plan and execute DR & HA strategies: multi-AD/region design, backup/restore tests, cross-region replication, and Data Guard (switchover vs. failover).
  • Automate storage lifecycle (block/object/file): provisioning, snapshots, archival tiering, lifecycle policies; write scripts for repeatable ops (OCI CLI/Terraform/Ansible).
  • Support database migration from on Prem to OCI: choosing appropriate methods (RMAN, Data Pump, GoldenGate, backup/restore, cross-platform considerations).
  • Enable data transfer & integration: FastConnect/VPN, Data Transfer Service, object storage pre-auth tokens, audit/logging, and alerting.
  • Enforce security baselines: IAM least privilege, KMS/OKV usage, vault secrets, SSL/TLS management, vulnerability remediation, audit review.
  • Generate operational reports: posture, backup status, DR readiness, patch cadence, SLA/uptime metrics.
  • EBS Workflows: Set up/renew workflow components, manage keys, and basic issue triage in coordination with EBS teams.
  • SSL Certificates: Configure and import SSL certificates (load balancers, API gateways, reverse proxies, OIC agents, database wallets).

Key Skills:

  • 15+ years of experience in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) administration.
  • Strong hands-on experience with OCI networking, IAM, ATP/DBaaS administration, RMAN backups, and automation.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and database migration techniques.
  • Experience with security compliance and operational reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate with stakeholders and resolve production issues effectively.
  • Knowledge of scripting for automation (OCI CLI/Terraform/Ansible).
