Summary: The OpenShift Platform Engineer role involves migrating from OpenShift 4.14 to a new OpenShift 4.18 build, requiring an experienced engineer to assure the setup of the new cluster and manage the migration of applications and infrastructure components. The position demands current active SC clearance and expertise in deploying and operating OpenShift clusters. The engineer will also validate platform components and installation scripts while supporting critical business workloads. Remote working is an option for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and operate OpenShift clusters (v4.x) from scratch.
  • Validate platform components and installation scripts.
  • Migrate applications and operators between OpenShift clusters.
  • Support migration checklists, config validation, and post-migration testing.
  • Ensure the setup of the new cluster and manage critical business workloads.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience with OpenShift clusters.
  • Strong Kubernetes knowledge, particularly with enterprise OpenShift configurations.
  • Hands-on familiarity with HashiCorp Vault, Red Hat Quay, Clair, Keycloak, and OpenShift Service Mesh.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Ansible/Terraform).
  • CI/CD and GitOps experience (e.g., Jenkins, ArgoCD, Tekton).
  • Scripting in Bash or Python.
  • Security Tooling experience and integration with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Current active SC clearance.

My client is migrating from OpenShift 4.14 to a clean-slate OpenShift 4.18 build. The role requires an experienced engineer who can technically assure the setup of the new cluster and the migration of applications, infrastructure components, and operators. The current cluster supports critical business workloads.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in deploying and operating OpenShift clusters (v4.x) from scratch.
  • Strong Kubernetes knowledge, particularly around enterprise OpenShift configurations.
  • Must be comfortable validating platform components and installation scripts.
  • Experience migrating applications and operators between OpenShift clusters.
  • Hands-on familiarity with the following operators:
    • HashiCorp Vault - secrets management
    • Red Hat Quay - internal container registry
    • Clair - container image vulnerability scanning
    • Keycloak - identity and access management
    • OpenShift Service Mesh (Istio) - microservices communications

Additional Skills:

  • Infrastructure as Code (Ansible/Terraform)
  • CI/CD and GitOps (eg Jenkins, ArgoCD, Tekton)
  • Scripting in Bash or Python
  • Able to support migration checklists, config validation, and post-migration testing
  • Security Tooling experience and integration with CI/CD pipelines - SCA, SAST, DAST
