Summary: The OpenShift/Kubernetes Engineer role is a fully remote position focused on automating the deployment and maintenance of OpenShift clusters within a banking environment. The engineer will lead infrastructure automation efforts, collaborate with technology management and support teams, and ensure documentation accuracy while mentoring junior staff. The position requires a strong technical background in system development, infrastructure lifecycle, and container technologies. Continuous learning about financial services trends and practices is also emphasized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Automate the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of OpenShift clusters through custom pipelines.
- Review new cluster configurations and pipelines for non-disruptive implementation.
- Identify and implement necessary upgrades and enhancements for optimal system performance.
- Lead infrastructure automation and continuous deployment using CI/CD pipelines.
- Document new services and ensure current documentation follows best practices.
- Collaborate with management and engineering teams to develop technical solutions.
- Engage in infrastructure architecture, design, and user acceptance testing.
- Provide mentorship to engineers and technicians.
- Maintain knowledge of bank applications and vendor technologies.
- Coordinate vendor interactions and support tickets as needed.
- Promote industry best practices and complete related duties as assigned.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 8 years' combined higher education and/or work experience.
- Strong understanding of system development and infrastructure lifecycle.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- 8 years' experience in technical engineering involving infrastructure design.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into high-quality implementations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Expertise in container technologies (OpenShift/Kubernetes, Podman/Docker).
- In-depth knowledge of Linux systems configuration.
- Ability to write scripts in Python, Perl, or Bash.
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
- Advanced knowledge of Azure services, especially AKS and ARO.
- Experience with GitOps (ArgoCD) for Kubernetes cluster management.
