SAP ABAP Technical Lead (S/4HANA & Testing)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Technical Lead with strong SAP S/4HANA and SAP Testing expertise to lead technical development, code quality, and testing initiatives across enterprise SAP transformation programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development, S/4HANA implementations, system integrations, test strategy, and leadership of distributed technical teams.

The candidate will serve as the technical lead for SAP custom developments, enhancements, interfaces, data migration, and testing activities while ensuring alignment with business requirements and SAP best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead SAP ABAP development activities for SAP S/4HANA implementation, upgrade, and enhancement projects.
• Design, develop, and review complex ABAP solutions including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows.
• Provide technical leadership for SAP development teams and oversee code quality, performance optimization, and adherence to development standards.
• Collaborate with functional consultants, business stakeholders, architects, and testing teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Define and execute testing strategies for SAP applications including Unit Testing, SIT, UAT, Regression Testing, and Defect Management.
• Review functional and technical specifications and provide solution recommendations.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues and system defects.
• Support SAP S/4HANA migration and transformation initiatives.
• Coordinate integration testing involving SAP and third-party systems.
• Drive automation opportunities and testing best practices within SAP environments.
• Mentor junior ABAP developers and provide technical guidance across project teams.
• Participate in release management, deployment planning, and go-live support activities.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of SAP ABAP development experience.
• 3+ years of SAP S/4HANA project experience.
• Proven experience leading SAP technical teams and development workstreams.
• Strong expertise in:
  • ABAP Objects (OOABAP)
  • Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms (RICEF)
  • BAPIs, BADIs, User Exits, Enhancements
  • IDOCs, ALE, RFC, Web Services
  • CDS Views
  • AMDP
  • OData Services
  • SAP Gateway
  • SAP Fiori Integration
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA data models and simplification concepts.
• Strong understanding of SAP testing methodologies and defect lifecycle management.
• Experience supporting SIT, UAT, Regression Testing, and Production Validation.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP S/4HANA Implementation or Migration experience.
• SAP Test Lead or QA Leadership experience.
• Experience with SAP Solution Manager, Tricentis Tosca, HP ALM, Jira, or similar testing tools.
• Exposure to SAP Fiori, SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite, and SAP APIs.
• Experience in Agile and Scrum delivery environments.
• SAP certification in ABAP or S/4HANA is a plus.
