Summary: The role of Network Security SME involves supporting a large-scale enterprise environment with a focus on network containment strategy, documentation, and resilience planning. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in routing and switching, particularly within Cisco and FortiGate environments, and will be responsible for creating operational runbooks and security documentation. This position is contract-based for a duration of 6 months or more and is classified as inside IR35. The role is fully remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mapping and documenting enterprise network environments (data centres, branches, remote access, ingress/egress)
- Identifying control points across Cisco, FortiGate and Zscaler
- Reviewing network/security configurations to support containment planning
- Developing clear, step-by-step containment runbooks
- Documenting shutdown procedures across access methods
- Producing network diagrams, interface inventories, and architecture documentation
Key Skills:
- Strong enterprise networking & security experience
- Deep routing & switching expertise in large environments
- Proven experience creating runbooks, incident response, or resilience documentation
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and extract structured knowledge from SMEs

We're currently seeking an experienced Network Security SME to support a large-scale enterprise environment, with a focus on network containment strategy, documentation, and resilience planning.
This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in routing & switching (Cisco/FortiGate environments) and a strong background in creating operational runbooks and security documentation within complex or regulated environments.
Key responsibilities include:
