Summary: The Network Engineer – Zabbix Specialist role involves leading the migration of legacy network monitoring tools to a modern Zabbix-based platform for a retail client. The position requires expertise in Zabbix to ensure seamless integration within a Cisco network environment, focusing on tool migration, design, development, testing, and service transition. Key Responsibilities:
- Tool Migration & Integration: Refactor existing tools (Cacti & Branch Asset Tracker) into Zabbix; Configure SNMP-based data collection and visualisation.
- Design & Documentation: Contribute to High-Level Design (HLD); Deliver Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.
- Development Tasks: Build and configure Zabbix proxies via code; Update network devices to communicate with Zabbix via SNMP; Onboard devices into Zabbix and build custom dashboards.
- Testing & Implementation: Develop and execute test plans; Manage change control and deployment; Provide post-deployment support.
- Service Transition: Conduct Knowledge Transfer to BAU (Business-As-Usual) teams; Provide support documentation for ongoing maintenance.
Key Skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Zabbix (architecture, proxy setup, dashboard creation).
- Strong understanding of SNMP and network monitoring principles.

About the role
Our Retail client is seeking a Network Engineer with deep expertise in Zabbix to lead the migration of legacy network monitoring tools to a modern, supported platform. This role supports the Network Tooling Refresh initiative, focused on replacing end-of-life tools with a robust Zabbix-based solution. You’ll be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing Zabbix to replace Cacti Monitoring and a bespoke Branch Asset Tracker, ensuring seamless integration within a Cisco network environment.
