Summary: The 9-1-1 Network Architect will play a crucial role in transforming legacy 9-1-1 circuit designs within AT&T's network, focusing on documenting connections to Originating Service Providers and Public Safety Answering Points. This position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure the implementation of secure and efficient fiber-based networks. The role involves analyzing business requirements, developing network solutions, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network architecture and 9-1-1 systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement network solutions that meet business requirements and 9-1-1 industry standards.
  • Work with existing Clients drawings, databases, and team members to discover legacy network designs in detail.
  • Work with members of our team and other teams to design, order, and track new network implementations for OSPs and PSAPs.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams, documentation, and standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies and tools.
  • Collaborate with our technical and business teams to understand and address network-related needs.
  • Ensure network security by implementing and maintaining security protocols and measures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network installation and decommissioning issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor network performance and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency during the installation and decommissioning phases of the network replacement project.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a network architect (or in a similar role)
  • Familiarity and/or experience with legacy 9-1-1 systems and protocols, including CAMA, ISDN, T1/T3, ALI circuits, fiber-based network transport, VoIP, and/or SIP
  • Experience with network design and implementation projects
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience in planning and project managing the installation and modification of TDM and SIP circuits
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and resolve ambiguous situations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and an intense focus on quality

The 9-1-1 Network Architect will be responsible for assisting our wire center transformation team in researching legacy 9-1-1 circuit designs in AT&T s network, helping to document and track existing connections to Originating Service Providers (OSPs) and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). The 9-1-1 Network Architect will work closely with other relationship management and migration project management professionals to ensure the fiber-based networks we will put in place to replace our legacy network connections are secure, efficient, and scalable. This role involves analyzing business requirements, developing network solutions, and providing technical guidance to the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of 9-1-1 network architecture
  • Experience interpreting complex network designs and devising diverse 9-1-1 networks
  • In-depth knowledge of general and 9-1-1-specific network protocols, architecture, and security
  • Relevant certifications, including CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, and ENP
