Summary: The Network Engineer - PON is responsible for deploying new technologies and upgrades to the Access network infrastructure, with a significant focus on analysis, design, development, and testing. The role requires expertise in Calix, NetBrain, and Servicenow, and involves both implementation and lifecycle management of network systems. The engineer will also create documentation and work collaboratively within project teams to address requirements and risks. On-call duties and customer escalations are part of the responsibilities as well.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs implementation of new hardware and/or software as it relates to Access Engineering projects.
- Maintains the lifecycle management environment within the Data Center and Local Offices; Assists with upgrades to the Access Infrastructure and all-inclusive IP routing.
- Assists with the creation of Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation for configuration templates, method of procedures, network diagrams, knowledge base articles, bill of materials and support documentation.
- The ability to drive resolution to projects and issues with little supervision.
- Analyzes project requests to estimate time and cost.
- Works as part of a project team to determine requirements, risks, and limitations for each project scope.
- Performs on-call duties, customer equipment escalations, and overnight network changes as assigned.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years experience.
