Network Engineer – AWS & Network Security

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a major international technology organisation on an initial 12-month contract.

This is a senior, hands-on position with a strong focus on AWS networking, network security/firewalls and Python automation.

You'll be joining at an important time for the team as it takes on increased responsibility for firewalling and network security, making this a key contract appointment.

What you'll be doing

• Building, operating and troubleshooting large-scale AWS network infrastructure
• Working hands-on with AWS networking services including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Subnets, Route Tables, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, VPNs and Direct Connect
• Deploying, managing and troubleshooting firewalls within AWS environments
• Automating network provisioning, configuration and monitoring using Python
• Working with routing and switching technologies, including BGP and TCP/IP
• Supporting highly available and secure public-cloud network environments
• Troubleshooting complex networking and security issues
• Working closely with technical teams, customers and stakeholders
• Supporting incident management and working with external network vendors where required

Key Skills:

• Strong, hands-on AWS networking experience
• Commercial experience with network security and firewalls
• Palo Alto firewall experience is strongly preferred, although strong Cisco firewall experience will also be considered
• Around 3+ years of Python coding/automation experience
• Strong routing and switching knowledge, particularly BGP
• Experience designing, building and troubleshooting cloud network infrastructure
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Experience with Terraform, multi-vendor networking, RPKI/IRR, internet peering or global exchange points would also be beneficial.

Location:: Remote - occasional travel to Amsterdam

Duration:: 12 months

Rate:: £640 per day
