Network Engineer

Position Overview

Network Engineer to support a dedicated software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) migration project for a WWT customer. This remote role will focus exclusively on migrating facilities from Fortinet-based networking to Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN ION devices and Prisma Secure Access Service Edge (SASE). The engineer will work alongside the project team to execute site deployments, perform cutovers, validate connectivity, and direct on-site smart-hands technicians who will rack and cable equipment. The engagement begins immediately, with the first migration scheduled for September 17, 2026, and is expected to continue through December 2026 - with the possibility of extension as the Migration continues.

Responsibilities

• Configure and support Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN ION deployments.
• Assist with migrations from Fortinet-based networking to Prisma SD-WAN.
• Execute site cutovers and post-migration connectivity validation testing.
• Direct on-site smart-hands technicians responsible for racking and cabling equipment.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, carriers, and local site contacts during migration events.
• Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, and switching issues encountered during deployments.
• Maintain accurate implementation, migration, and status documentation.
• Support project-based rollout activities, including scheduled late-evening maintenance windows when required to minimize business impact.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Fortinet switching and campus networking.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN ION devices.
• Experience working in Prisma SASE environments.
• Solid understanding of wide area network technologies, routing, switching, virtual local area networks (VLANs), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), and site cutover activities.
• Experience supporting remote site migrations and network modernization projects.
• Ability to follow standardized migration procedures and document implementation activities.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with distributed technical teams, carriers, and site contacts.
• Preferred: healthcare network experience.
• Preferred: experience with multi-site enterprise deployments.
• Preferred: experience with carrier circuits and branch connectivity migrations.
