Summary: The Network Engineer role involves designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-grade network environments in a remote setting. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure and support secure enterprise network infrastructure
- Manage and troubleshoot routing, switching and Firewall technologies
- Support hybrid cloud networking across AWS and traditional data centre environments
- Implement and maintain network security controls and segmentation
- Work closely with DevOps, infrastructure and security teams on platform delivery
- Support load balancing, VPN connectivity and remote access solutions
- Contribute to network monitoring, performance tuning and incident resolution
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures
- Support infrastructure automation and infrastructure-as-code initiatives where appropriate
Key Skills:
- Strong experience as a Network Engineer within complex enterprise environments
- Excellent knowledge of routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF and VLAN technologies
- Experience configuring and supporting Firewalls such as Palo Alto, Cisco ASA or Fortinet
- Strong understanding of network security principles and secure connectivity
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments, ideally AWS
- Knowledge of VPN technologies, DNS, DHCP and load balancing
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Strong understanding of high availability and resilient network design
- Experience working within regulated or security-conscious environments
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and operational teams
- Exposure to SD-WAN or software-defined networking

Network Engineer

SR2 is supporting a major digital transformation programme within a highly regulated environment and are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure services.
This role will focus on the design, implementation and support of enterprise-grade network environments across cloud and on-premise platforms. You'll work closely with infrastructure, security and platform teams to help modernise network capabilities, improve operational resilience and support critical services used at national scale.
This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone comfortable operating within complex environments, contributing to both BAU improvements and project delivery.
