Overview
This role automates repeatable network-planning workflows within capacity engineering. The focus is building tools and automation, not performing traditional capacity-engineering work full-time. The candidate enters with capacity-engineering domain knowledge but is evaluated primarily on automation delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Automate repeatable network-planning processes, starting with broadband capacity engineering. (e.g., EHB work directive creation)
Design
- Design partial-automation workflows — manual steps may remain at the start, middle, or end — as long as the automated portion measurably cuts manual effort or increases throughput. Build reusable middle-process automation that scales across multiple work groups to maximize ROI.
Required Skills
- Strong software/automation development skills (scripting, APIs, workflow tooling) paired with working knowledge of network capacity-engineering processes.
Success Metrics
- Impact is measured in cost avoidance and labor-hour reduction — e.g., cutting a five-person process to three and a half FTEs. Investment must be justified by savings that offset the resource's annual cost, with a goal of increased output and reduced/reallocated headcount without net headcount growth.
