Summary: The MQ Administrator role involves supporting, maintaining, and optimizing IBM MQ enterprise messaging infrastructure on z/OS. The candidate will leverage extensive expertise in IBM MQ administration and mainframe operations to ensure reliable and secure message delivery across critical business applications. Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade IBM MQ queue managers and related components on z/OS.
  • Manage MQ objects including queues, channels, listeners, and process definitions.
  • Monitor MQ performance, availability, and message flows; proactively address issues and bottlenecks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve MQ connectivity, message delivery, and operational problems.
  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for MQ environments.
  • Administer security policies, RACF profiles, and access controls for MQ resources.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and network teams for integration and support.
  • Maintain and document MQ configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
  • Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Provide on-call support and participate in change management and incident response processes.
  • Support MQ upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning activities.
  • Conduct performance tuning and recommend improvements for reliability and scalability.
