Summary: The role of Modern Workplace Engineer focuses on enhancing a Microsoft cloud-first environment for a leading Fintech Payments organization. The engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing secure workplace solutions using Azure AD (Entra ID), Microsoft 365, Intune, and Microsoft Defender. This hands-on contract position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure effective deployment and management of workplace technologies. The role is 100% remote with potential for extension beyond the initial contract period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage Azure AD/Entra ID including Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, and identity governance
  • Administer and optimise Microsoft 365 workloads (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams)
  • Lead Intune device management for Windows, iOS, and Android (Autopilot, compliance, configuration profiles)
  • Implement and enhance security controls using Microsoft Defender (Defender for Endpoint, Identity, Office 365)
  • Support Zero Trust and modern security best practices
  • Troubleshoot complex identity, device, and access issues
  • Produce clear technical documentation and handover materials
  • Work closely with stakeholders to deliver improvements and project outcomes

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience as a Modern Workplace/EUC/M365 Engineer
  • Deep knowledge of Azure AD (Entra ID) and identity management
  • Hands-on Intune deployment and device life cycle management
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Defender security tooling
  • Strong understanding of Conditional Access, compliance, and endpoint security
  • Experience working in contract or project-based environments
  • Ability to operate independently and deliver at pace

Overview

My client a leading Fintech Payments organisation are looking for an experienced Modern Workplace Engineer to support and enhance a Microsoft cloud-first environment. You'll play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimising secure, scalable workplace solutions across Azure AD (Entra ID), Microsoft 365, Intune, and Microsoft Defender.

This is a hands-on contract role suited to someone comfortable operating in enterprise environments and collaborating closely with infrastructure, security, and end-user computing teams.
