Detailed Description From Employer:

The RSPB’s digital estate is vital to our mission to give nature a home - from rallying people together to speak up for nature, to inspiring a love of wildlife, to raising the income that pays for our conservation work in the UK and around the world.

Working together with our Senior UX Designer, in a wider team of Service Designers, Solutions Architects and Business Analysts (as part of probably the biggest tech team in conservation) you’ll play a key role in shaping our digital experiences and evangelising a user-centred approach throughout the organisation. Together we’ll develop a deeper understanding of our users’ needs, motivations, and pains, explore a range of creative solutions, and deliver desirable, engaging experiences.

On a day-to-day basis you'll be working closely with our web team, designing new templates and interpreting data from our testing software to enhance and optimise our web product. You'll use your excellent design skills to support the wider service design team by co-designing new concepts and services and providing advice on best practice.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience: You’ll be collaborative, fun and friendly, adept at engaging stakeholders and users in testing and general chat. You’ll be a passionate advocate for design thinking and have excellent soft skills. You’ll have a passion for engaging with users, identifying, and challenging assumptions, validating hypotheses, and testing concepts and solutions with a mix of qualitative and quantitative data. You’re able to interpret user behaviour data collected through website tools and use this to influence your decision making. You’ll bring a sound knowledge of design principles and practices that underpin your excellent visual design skills and ability to create seamless interactions, helping us deliver experiences that delight our users and guide them effortlessly to their goals. You’ve got excellent people skills, recognise the importance of getting feedback early and often from peers and users, and always look for opportunities to collaborate and share. You’ll have experience of validating your design work with users so that you can iterate and improve the end solution. You’re confident owning the delivery of designs and experiences, and you'll instil confidence in our work by pragmatically balancing the needs of users with the goals of the organisation. Ultimately, you’ll be an excellent Designer with experience working on a variety of different projects.

Good news! You can work from anywhere in the UK. We’ll provide you with all the tech and software to help you do your job from home and, with our wide network of reserves and offices, you’ll never be far from an opportunity for hot desking. You’ll also need to be prepared to travel occasionally for meet ups with the rest of our awesome team, to get involved in workshops and so you can get a better understanding of our vast and diverse organisation.
