Summary: The Mid Level Transmission Planning Engineer role at Cerebra Consulting Inc involves executing load studies under the guidance of a Senior Engineer, focusing on steady-state power flow, contingency analysis, and short-circuit modeling using Siemens PSS E. The position requires proficiency in ERCOT system data and the ability to manage multiple workstreams within a tight schedule. This is a fully remote position available for a duration of two months. Candidates must possess a relevant engineering degree and experience in transmission planning or power systems analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute steady-state power flow studies in PSS E Version 35 using ERCOT base cases.
- Perform short-circuit fault duty analysis at the proposed load point of interconnection.
- Develop, modify, and validate PSS E model files, delivering updated case files as project deliverables.
- Identify and document thermal overloads, voltage violations, and fault duty exceedances.
- Organize and maintain study workpapers, case files, and analysis outputs in a secure environment.
- Prepare technical sections, tables, and figures for the final study report.
- Communicate study progress and technical issues to the Senior Transmission Planning Engineer.
- Execute CEII NDA prior to receiving study materials and handle CEII-designated data in compliance with obligations.
- Support ERCOT/TSP review process by preparing supplemental analysis or data responses.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of transmission planning or power systems analysis experience.
- Proficient working knowledge of Siemens PSS E, including power flow modeling and contingency analysis.
- Familiarity with ERCOT system topology and planning study procedures.
- Understanding of NERC TPL-001-5 reliability standards and ERCOT Planning Guide requirements.
- Experience with large load interconnection or generator interconnection studies is a plus.
