Summary: The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Director role at Deal Ascent is a fully remote consultancy position focused on managing a portfolio of SME sell-side mandates. The successful candidate will leverage proprietary AI tools and a strong network to originate and execute transactions, while operating under a success-fee-only model. Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and win new sell-side mandates including through your own network, outreach, and market presence
  • Lead preparation of marketing materials (teasers, information memoranda, management presentations) and input into financial analysis and valuation
  • Design and manage buyer processes: target lists, outreach, NDAs, meetings, Q&A, offers, and negotiations through to signing and closing
  • Use Deal Cockpit™ to manage pipelines, workflows, and client reporting, and AI Deal Lab™ to support buyer mapping, research, and document drafting

Key Skills:

  • 7–10 years’ experience in UK M&A / corporate finance, with at least 5 years focused on sell-side mandates
  • Proven track record in originating and closing deal flow, ideally with founder-led or UK SME clients
  • Deal experience in one or more of: construction & engineering, environmental services, energy, industrials, healthcare & pharma, real estate, technology, media & communications, transportation & logistics, business services, consumer products, food & beverage
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage clients and stakeholders independently
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a remote, technology-enabled environment
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g. for research, document drafting, or workflow automation) and transaction management platforms is a strong plus
  • Must be currently resident in the UK and able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the UK on a self-employed or consultancy basis before commencing the role

Role Description This is an entrepreneurial, fully remote role for a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Director operating on a consultancy / fee-sharing basis under the Deal Ascent platform. You will build and manage a portfolio of SME sell-side mandates, using Deal Ascent’s brand, FCA umbrella and AI Deal Lab™ / Deal Cockpit™ tools to originate, structure and execute transactions from first meeting through to completion.

Compensation & Structure Compensation is based on a transparent fee-sharing model. As an independent consultant, you will earn an agreed percentage of success fees on the mandates you originate and/or lead. There is no cap on earnings; your income will depend on the volume and size of transactions you close. The consultancy agreement will define the precise fee split and allocation of platform, marketing and execution support.
