Summary: The Medical Communications Writer role involves managing and completing high-quality medical communications deliverables for a leading multinational Pharma client. The position requires expertise in therapeutic areas and the ability to produce various publication materials, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards. The role is remote within the UK and demands collaboration with internal teams and clients while mentoring less experienced colleagues. Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of medical communications experience and a relevant science degree.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate command of assigned therapeutic areas and expertise with assigned products.
  • Research and write original content for publications activities including manuscripts, abstracts, and posters.
  • Prepare meeting materials for satellite symposia and reports from advisory boards.
  • Develop scientifically accurate and evidence-based content for various medical communication deliverables.
  • Perform quality control checking and proofreading of documents to meet customer expectations.
  • Clearly communicate medical scientific concepts in an audience-appropriate manner.
  • Follow internal processes and industry best practices for workflow and deliverables.
  • Interpret and apply clinical data in medical communication deliverables.
  • Work with service team and line manager to develop timelines for project completion.
  • Provide input and aid in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Lead and participate in author/client teleconferences.
  • Maintain records for all assigned projects and ensure compliance with audit and training requirements.
  • Mentor new and less experienced colleagues as needed.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum science degree or equivalent; MSc, PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in medical communications.
  • Medical writing experience.
  • Good understanding of industry work processes for publications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
