Detailed Description From Employer:

Mechanical Engineering — AI Trainer

About The Role

We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. If you have deep expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, or related fields, this is your opportunity to directly influence how the next generation of AI reasons through complex engineering problems. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your domain knowledge becomes the benchmark for AI performance.

Organization: Alignerr

Type: Hourly Contract

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced mechanical engineering problems spanning FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to rigorously stress-test AI capabilities.
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and "golden responses" that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation.
  • Audit AI Reasoning — Review AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety compliance, and adherence to engineering standards (ASME, ISO, and others).
  • Refine Model Thinking — Identify flawed reasoning in AI outputs — such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or faulty kinematic assumptions — and provide structured, actionable feedback to improve model performance.

Who You Are

  • Advanced Degree — Masters (pursuing or completed) or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Deep Domain Knowledge — Strong foundational expertise in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes.
  • Clear Technical Communicator — Able to explain complex physical phenomena and mathematical reasoning in concise, well-structured written form.
  • Precision-Oriented — High attention to detail when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints.
  • No prior AI experience required — we'll bring you up to speed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review workflows
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
  • Familiarity with AI systems or large language model evaluation
