Summary: The Mechanical Design Engineer position is a 6-month remote contract role within a data centre consultancy firm focused on delivering innovative solutions. The engineer will be responsible for developing mechanical systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The role requires a strong background in mechanical design engineering, particularly in data centre projects, and proficiency in relevant design software. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design mechanical systems for data centres, including HVAC, cooling systems, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs with electrical and structural components.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and performance analyses to optimize system efficiency and reliability.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation in compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases of data centre projects.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure innovative and cost-effective design solutions.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, with a strong emphasis on data centre projects.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks).
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling technologies, and other mechanical infrastructure relevant to data centres.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus.
