The Role

A vacancy has arisen at England Athletics for a Management Accountant (Initial 6mth FTC).

The role will be required to prepare monthly financial Management Reporting Packs providing sound insights and recommendations, while maintaining robust financial controls.

The individual will be required to provide key assistance in the annual budgeting/forecasting process in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation.

The role will proactively provide financial support, information and solutions for budget holders.

Key areas for this role will be

  • Financial Control – Ensure appropriate financial controls are adhered to and control accounts reconciled and reviewed.
  • Financial Management and Reporting - Prepare accurate, timely and comprehensive Management Reports Pack on a monthly basis, post journals, accruals grant releases and other ad hoc journals. Prepare and complete quarterly VAT return. Entry of the approved budgets into the Finance system and assist in the preparation of the annual audit file.
  • Finance Business Partnering - Build relationships with budget holders and provide monthly forecasting providing meaningful analysis and commentary.
  • Accounting System - Carry out monthly closedown of the ledgers with the appropriate checks.

Person Specification

  • Working towards CIMA or ACCA qualification, towards latter stages of qualification preferable.
  • Minimum 2 years proven Management Accounting experience in a similar sized organisation, preferably in a Not-for-Profit environment.
  • Technically proficient in management accounting processes.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting software.
  • Experience with VAT returns, preferably in a Not-for-Profit environment.
