We operate fully remotely, with team members across the U.S., UK, Spain, Greece, Poland, Kuwait, the Philippines, and South Africa. We are hiring someone to take ownership of financial controlling across the group. This is a hands-on role combining review, direct execution where needed, and light analytical support.

Scope of Role & Compensation

This is a contract role at around 60 hours per month, with a flexible working pattern and heavier focus around month-end. You will be paid £25 per hour. You are responsible for the integrity, consistency, and reliability of the financials. You will work with a bookkeeper and external accountants, but you will own the output.

Core Responsibilities

Month-End Ownership

  • Own the monthly close across all UK entities
  • Review, complete, and correct work from the bookkeeper
  • Ensure a consistent, accurate close each month

Balance Sheet Control

  • Own the balance sheet across entities
  • Ensure all key accounts are reconciled, supported, and understood
  • Identify and resolve gaps, mispostings, or inconsistencies
  • Maintain clean working papers and audit trail

Intercompany & International Oversight

  • Own intercompany postings and reconciliations end to end
  • Keep balances aligned, cleared, and simple
  • Review US and Greek entities monthly
  • Ensure consistency and no drift in standards

Payroll & Cash

  • Ownership of payroll review is required, including checking outsourced payroll outputs against the financials.
  • Review payroll outputs and ensure alignment with financials
  • Track timing of inflows and outflows across entities
  • Monitor supplier charges and recurring payments
  • Keep concise notes on cash movements that need follow-up
  • Maintain current ledgers so cash-flow checks are reliable

Year-End Preparation

  • Prepare a clean, fully reconciled year-end file
  • Produce schedules and supporting documentation
  • Act as the primary interface for the external accountant

Analysis and Acquisition Support

  • Provide basic financial analysis as needed, including trends, variances, and sanity checks
  • Support tuck-in acquisitions with:
    • high-level financial review of targets
    • normalization of financials
    • simple modelling and downside checks
    • post-acquisition integration into Xero and reporting

Process and Discipline

  • Maintain and enhance our clear, repeatable month-end process
  • Strengthen controls and robustness over time
  • Keep systems simple and reliable

Working Model

  • Direct communication with founders
  • Expected to be self-sufficient and comfortable without heavy structure
