Summary: The Mainframe Natural / ADABAS System Analyst will lead the integration of BIS with modern application ecosystems, focusing on analyzing existing architecture and business processes. This role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure effective integration and support for legacy systems. The analyst will also be responsible for translating requirements into specifications and troubleshooting integration challenges. This is a long-term remote contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead analyst for integration between BIS (Natural/ADABAS-based) and modern application ecosystems.
- Perform in-depth analysis of existing BIS architecture, data flows, and business processes.
- Define, document, and translate business and technical requirements into detailed functional and interface specifications.
- Collaborate with internal city resources, development teams, and external vendors to ensure proper integration design and implementation.
- Support development teams in understanding legacy logic and assist in reengineering legacy processes where needed.
- Participate in planning, system design reviews, integration testing, and go-live support.
- Analyze and troubleshoot data conversion issues, normalization logic, and integration challenges.
Key Skills:
- 12+ years of experience in systems analysis or application support roles within large-scale mainframe environments.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with Natural 4 / ADABAS in both batch and online transaction environments.
- Proven expertise in JCL scripting and working within TSO environments.
- Strong understanding of complex batch processing and scheduling logic.
- Experience with ENTIREX Broker or similar middleware integration frameworks.
- Solid grasp of data structures, data conversion, and normalization techniques.
- Exceptional analytical and documentation skills able to bridge business needs with technical design.
