Summary: The Mainframe IMS Database Administrator role at the Railroad Commission of Texas involves managing and administering IMS databases on a z/OS systems platform. Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer IMS databases on z/OS systems platform.
  • Perform forward recoveries and manage DBRC.
  • Utilize basic z/OS utilities such as TSO, SYSVIEW, and others.
  • Develop and troubleshoot complex JCL.
  • Maintain mainframe printer assignments and related setups.
  • Write, analyze, and debug REXX programs in a z/OS environment.
  • Work with IMS HAL databases and IMS Catalog.
  • Provide support for batch SFTP and FTPS processing.
  • Utilize Informatica Power Exchange software for data capture.

Key Skills:

  • 7 years of experience with z/OS Systems platform.
  • 5 years of experience with IMS database administration.
  • 5 years of experience with DBRC and forward recoveries.
  • 7 years of experience with basic z/OS utilities (TSO, SYSVIEW, etc.).
  • 5 years of experience with Batch and CICS Cobol, IMS programming.
  • 5 years of experience developing and troubleshooting complex JCL.
  • 2 years of experience writing and debugging REXX programs.
  • 2 years of experience with IMS HAL databases and IMS Catalog.
  • Preferred knowledge of Top Secret setup and administration.
  • Preferred experience with ISPF panels and skeletons.
