Summary: The Railroad Commission of Texas is seeking a skilled Mainframe IMS Application Database Administrator to manage and maintain IMS databases, ensuring their availability and performance across various environments. This remote contract position requires extensive experience in mainframe systems and database administration, with responsibilities including system administration, troubleshooting, and collaboration with development teams. The role also involves coordinating software upgrades and disaster recovery plans. Candidates must have a strong background in z/OS systems and IMS database management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for IMS applications and collaborate with the Mainframe Systems team.
- Administer IMS databases (creation, modification, maintenance, and performance monitoring).
- Conduct DBRC forward recoveries and troubleshoot IMS-related issues.
- Support application development teams on database-related issues.
- Coordinate mainframe software upgrades, disaster recovery plans, and change management with the State's Consolidated Data Center Services (DCS).
- Provide technical support for Mainframe Production Control, COBOL & JCL batch processing, and mainframe operations.
- Maintain mainframe security, storage, and printer assignments.
Key Skills:
- 7+ years with z/OS Systems platform and basic z/OS utilities (TSO, SYSVIEW, SDSF, IDCAMS).
- 5+ years in IMS database administration, DBRC forward recoveries, and JCL, CICS, VSAM, TSO.
- Experience in COBOL programming, complex JCL troubleshooting, and IMS HAL databases.
- 2+ years working with IMS Catalog, REXX programming, and security administration (Top Secret preferred).
- Experience supporting mainframe operations in a high-availability environment.
