Summary: The Mainframe Hardware Configuration Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting a Disaster Recovery center relocation initiative, focusing on the seamless transition of mainframe infrastructure. The position requires extensive experience in mainframe hardware configuration, particularly in IOgens, LPAR configuration, and related hardware planning tasks. The role is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements while contributing to critical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting a client with a disaster recovery relocation
- Lead and execute IOgen input/output generation and validation for DR site configuration.
- Design, configure, and validate LPARs (Logical Partitions) to align with DR site architecture.
- Develop and maintain IODs (Input/Output Definitions) to ensure proper channel path and device connectivity.
- Collaborate with systems programmers, storage teams, and network engineers to ensure end-to-end hardware readiness.
- Perform HCD/HCM (Hardware Configuration Definition/Manager) updates and ensure synchronization across environments.
- Support IOCDS (I/O Configuration Data Set) builds and testing.
- Assist in mainframe hardware planning, including channel path ID assignments, device number mapping, and FICON topology.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing, validation, and documentation
Key Skills:
- 5- 7+ years of experience in mainframe hardware configuration and support.
- Strong expertise in IOgens both input and output processes.
- Deep understanding of LPAR configuration, IODs, and IOCDS.
- Experience with HCD/HCM tools and processes.
- Familiarity with FICON and ESCON channel configurations.
