Summary: The Mainframe DevOps Migration Consultant role focuses on assisting organizations in modernizing their software delivery processes by transitioning from legacy mainframe source code management to IBM's DevOps ecosystem. The position requires extensive knowledge of IBM z/OS environments and Git-based development practices, along with strong consulting and communication skills. The consultant will lead migration engagements, implement DevOps workflows, and provide technical leadership throughout the migration journey. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise and the ability to facilitate knowledge transfer during enterprise migration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end migration engagements from traditional mainframe source code management tools (such as CA Endevor and similar platforms) to IBM DBB, Git, and IDD/Wazi solutions.
- Evaluate existing application development and software change management processes and design an effective migration strategy aligned with DevOps best practices.
- Define and implement modern DevOps workflows utilizing Git repositories, IBM DBB for intelligent build automation, and deployment automation across the mainframe environment.
- Install, configure, and support IBM DBB, Git integration, IDD, and Wazi Deployment solutions within customer environments.
- Analyze existing applications and repositories, perform migration activities, validate conversion results, and resolve migration-related issues.
- Troubleshoot build failures, pipeline issues, repository problems, and deployment challenges across the DevOps toolchain.
- Provide technical leadership throughout project execution while collaborating with client teams and internal stakeholders.
- Create technical documentation, migration guides, implementation standards, and operational best practices.
- Deliver customer workshops, technical training sessions, and knowledge transfer to development and operations teams.
- Assist customers in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving migration and conversion-related challenges to ensure successful adoption.
Key Skills:
- Strong background in IBM z/OS environments with experience in application development or systems programming.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or migrating Software Change Management (SCM) solutions within enterprise mainframe environments.

Preferred Experience:

- 8+ years of experience in Mainframe Systems Programming, Application Development, or related technical roles.
- 4+ years of consulting or customer-facing implementation experience.
- Prior experience with application lifecycle management, software change management, or enterprise modernization initiatives is highly desirable.
