Summary: The role of Mainframe Developer involves leading the transition to Florida PALM by updating and documenting numerous Focus assets used for reporting and applications. The candidate will analyze existing programs and reports, develop remediation strategies, and work closely with management and technical staff. Essential skills include experience with Tibco Mainframe Focus, WebFocus, and strong SQL capabilities. The position is remote and classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current Focus programs and WebFocus reports and document their specifications.
  • Develop an overall remediation strategy for all Focus programs and reports.
  • Work with business users to improve existing reports based on current needs.
  • Convert WebFocus and Mainframe Focus queries to T-SQL queries.
  • Create database views and stored procedures with database administrators.
  • Update Focus programs and WebFocus Reports to reflect chart of account changes mandated by Florida PALM.
  • Convert Focus mainframe programs to use database tables instead of flat files.
  • Analyze financial data and recommend improvements to the data model.
  • Administer the WebFocus environment for the PALM remediation.
  • Perform knowledge transfer with technical staff of the office of the Comptroller.

4 Scope of Services
To prepare for the transition to Florida PALM, our agency is seeking a resource knowledgeable in Tibco Mainframe FocWebFocus to lead the effort of updating our numerous Focus assets. Focus has been used copiously by the department to develop reports, interfaces, and applications for the past twenty years. It is important we find a resource capable of analyzing these programs and documenting their specifications.

5 Education
Bachelor s Degree in a field of study related to technology or finance. Work experience can substitute on a year for year basis for the degree.

6 Experience
Candidates MUST have a minimum of 2 years experience in Tibco Mainframe Focus or WebFocus.

7 Primary Job Duties/ Tasks
The submitted candidate must be able to perform the following duties and/or tasks. Duties of the selected candidate will include, but not be limited to:
1.Analyze current Focus programs and WebFocus reports and document the specifications for these programs and reports.
2.Work with management to develop an overall remediation strategy for all Focus programs and reports.
3.Analyze existing reports and work with business users to determine how these reports can be improved based on current business needs.
4.Read and document WebFocus and Mainframe Focus queries and convert them to T-SQL queries.
5.Work with database administrators from the Office of Information Technology to create database views and stored procedures that will facilitate the remediation of WebFocus reports.
6.Update Focus programs to encapsulate chart of account changes mandated by Florida PALM.
7.Update WebFocus Reports to encapsulate chart of account changes mandated by Florida PALM.
8.Convert Focus mainframe programs using mainframe flat files as a data source to use database tables instead.
9.Analyze financial data and make recommendations to improve the data model of financial systems.
10.Provide administration of the WebFocus environment for the dedicated PALM remediation environment.
11.Perform knowledge transfer with technical staff of the office of the Comptroller.
