Position Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Mainframe Batch Scheduler with deep hands-on experience in Control-M, and strong exposure to other mainframe job scheduling and orchestration tools. The ideal candidate will be a go-to expert in mainframe batch processing, capable of managing complex scheduling workflows, troubleshooting failures, and ensuring timely execution of critical enterprise jobs.

This role requires an individual who can navigate high-volume production environments, work independently, and collaborate with infrastructure, application, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, configure, and monitor Control-M job schedules in a high-availability production environment

• Leverage knowledge of ASG s Zeke, Zak, and Zena tools to integrate and maintain batch job automation, tape management, and enterprise orchestration

• Develop, update, and maintain job definitions, schedules, calendars, and dependencies across multiple platforms

• Troubleshoot and resolve scheduling conflicts, job failures, and delays in batch workflows

• Collaborate with infrastructure, application development, and operations teams to ensure smooth batch cycles and escalations

• Ensure compliance with IT change management and documentation procedures

• Optimize scheduling strategies for performance, throughput, and resource utilization

• Participate in on-call support rotations for critical job monitoring and issue resolution

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in mainframe batch scheduling and operations

• Deep expertise in Control-M (creation, troubleshooting, optimization)

• Experience with ASG Zeke (job scheduling), ASG Zak (tape management), and ASG Zena (enterprise orchestration)

• Familiarity with CA-7 scheduling is a plus

• Strong understanding of mainframe operations, JCL, and batch processing

• Proficient in monitoring tools, logging systems, and performance tuning

• Ability to communicate clearly across technical and business teams

• Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently in a remote setup

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience supporting large enterprise clients (e.g., consulting firms or system integrators)

• Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management platforms

• Scripting skills (e.g., REXX, Shell, or JCL scripting) for automation and reporting
