The Role
Position: Locum Construction Solicitor
Working Arrangement: Full Time, remote working (with occasional office attendance ideally)
Rate: Up to £65 per hour umbrella
Start: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Providing legal advice on a range of construction and infrastructure projects
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction contracts, particularly NEC contracts
- Advising on complex NEC matters, including contractual and dispute-related issues
- Providing advice on local authority governance, decision-making processes and constitutional matters
- Managing a varied caseload and providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice
- Supporting and advising internal stakeholders on construction and corporate legal matters
- Mentoring and developing an existing member of staff through practical training, guidance and knowledge sharing
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with significant experience in Construction Law
- Strong Local Government experience, ideally within a Corporate Legal team
- Good knowledge of local authority governance, decision-making processes and constitutional matters
- Significant experience advising on construction and infrastructure projects
- Detailed working knowledge of NEC contracts, including drafting, negotiation and dispute-related matters
- Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring junior/in-house colleagues would be advantageous
- Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice
