Summary: The role of Locum Litigation and Licensing Lawyer involves providing expert legal advice on civil and criminal litigation as well as licensing matters for a local authority in the South East of England. This position is remote with the requirement of attending court bi-weekly and is initially for a duration of three months. The candidate must possess a valid practicing certificate and relevant experience in local authority or public sector legal work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possess an expert knowledge and understanding of law and legislation relating to both civil and criminal litigation
- Provide advice on litigious matters surrounding tenancy fraud
- Provide legal advice on licensing matters, including gambling
- Work with appeals in courts on licensing matters
- Provide advice on all areas of private sector housing (exemplary knowledge of the Housing Act 2004)
- Advocate effectively on behalf of the Council before courts, tribunals and other bodies
Key Skills:
- A valid practising certificate in England as a Solicitor, Barrister or a Fellow of CILEX
- Specialism within Litigation, both civil and criminal, and evidence of practising this post-qualification
- Experience working within local authorities, or for a public sector organisation
