Summary: The Linux Systems Administrator role is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a fully remote working arrangement, focused on managing cloud-based and on-premise systems for a fintech SaaS company. The position requires extensive experience in Linux system administration, particularly with AWS and Debian-based systems. The successful candidate will join a small, high-performing team and will have ownership over various projects within a secure, regulated environment. There is potential for a permanent position following the contract period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a mix of cloud-based (AWS) and on-premise Linux systems.
- Maintain SaaS workloads built on Linux in AWS or Azure.
- Support Ubuntu and Debian Linux systems running on servers.
- Administer Linux systems, ideally Ubuntu or other Debian-based distributions.
- Configure and manage network devices such as routers, firewalls, and switches.
- Own and complete projects to a high standard.
- Provision infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Manage server configurations with Ansible, Chef, or similar tools.
- Automate processes using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Automate CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar.
- Deploy and manage monitoring tools like Zabbix, SolarWinds, or Grafana.
- Utilize version control systems like GitHub or GitLab.
Key Skills:
- At least 5 years of experience in a Systems Administration role.
- Experience with SaaS workloads on Linux in AWS or Azure.
- Proficiency in supporting Ubuntu and Debian Linux systems.
- Solid network administration skills.
- Experience with project ownership and completion.
- Familiarity with provisioning infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience managing server configurations with Ansible, Chef, or similar.
- Ability to script automation using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience with CI/CD automation tools like Jenkins or CircleCI.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Zabbix or Grafana.
- Experience with version control systems like GitHub or GitLab.

My client are expanding their Tech Ops team and looking for an experienced Linux Administrator to manage a mix of cloud-based (AWS) and on-premise systems in a secure, regulated environment. You'll be joining a small, high-performing team where you'll have real ownership and visibility across the platform.
Essential experience you’ll need
- At least 5 years working in a similar Systems Administration role
- Maintaining SaaS workloads built on Linux in AWS or Azure
- Supporting Ubuntu and Debian Linux systems running on on-premise servers and cloud servers
- Administering Linux, ideally Ubuntu or other Debian-based distro
- Solid network administration skills – eg. configuring routers, firewalls, switches etc.
- Proven experience owning and finishing projects to a high standard
Additional skills that would be very useful are
- Provisioning infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation
- Managing server configurations with Ansible, Chef or similar tooling
- Scripting automation with Bash, Python or PowerShell
- Automation of CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, CircleCI or similar
- Deploy and manage monitoring tools (Zabbix, SolarWinds SentryOne, Grafana and other network/database monitoring solutions).
