Summary: We are looking for a Linux System Administrator with VMware NSX experience to support and enhance our enterprise infrastructure. The role involves managing Linux systems and virtual network environments, focusing on automation, security, and scalability. The candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and compliance. This position is remote and offers a contract duration of over 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu Linux systems in a production environment
- Design, deploy, and manage VMware NSX virtual network environments, including NSX-T and/or NSX-V
- Perform routine system maintenance, patching, upgrades, and configuration management
- Monitor system performance, perform troubleshooting, and ensure high availability of services
- Manage firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation using NSX
- Collaborate with network and security teams on policy enforcement, micro-segmentation, and traffic analysis
- Implement automation using scripting (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.) and infrastructure-as-code principles
- Maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and network designs
- Assist with incident response and root cause analysis
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical issues as needed
Key Skills:
- 3+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with VMware NSX-T or NSX-V
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls)
- Experience with VMware vSphere and ESXi administration
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible)
- Familiarity with tools like vRealize, vCenter, or similar VMware ecosystem products
- Experience with system monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, ELK, Prometheus)
- Working knowledge of security hardening and compliance standards (CIS, NIST, etc.)
