Summary: A high-growth technology organization is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel for a 12-month fixed-term contract, fully remote for UK-based candidates. The role involves supporting commercial, product, and operational functions, advising on legal and operational risks, and streamlining legal processes. The Legal Counsel will take ownership of a broad commercial contracting portfolio and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as the organization expands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including service contracts, technology licensing, SaaS terms, consultancy agreements, NDAs and procurement documentation.
- Advise internal teams on legal risk, contract obligations and practical commercial implications while aligning with strategic business objectives.
- Develop and refine contracting templates, playbooks and internal legal processes to enhance efficiency and reduce friction in deal cycles.
- Provide guidance on regulatory issues relevant to digital services and data-driven technology, including data protection, IP, and compliance considerations.
- Support the contract lifecycle from initial request through signature, storage, renewal and termination.
- Collaborate closely with commercial teams, product functions, leadership and external counsel as needed.
- Maintain an organised system for tracking contractual commitments, operational risk areas and upcoming regulatory developments.
Key Skills:
- In-house / private practice exposure, with a strong grounding in commercial or technology law.
- Demonstrable experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements in a fast-paced, technology-focused or digitally-led organisation.
- Confident advising non-legal stakeholders and translating technical or regulatory concepts into clear, commercially-practical language.
- Strong analytical judgment with the ability to balance commercial needs against legal risk.
- Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working independently in a remote-first structure.
- Excellent communication skills and an adaptable approach.
- Based in the UK and able to start at short notice.
