Are you a senior contract data professional with a passion for leadership and deep technical expertise? We are seeking a Lead Business Analyst on a contract basis to spearhead a talented team of Technical Data Analysts and Business Analysts. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between complex business requirements and technical data delivery, driving enterprise-level data mapping and large-scale data transformation initiatives.

Working hand-in-hand with the Data Delivery Manager, Data Product Owners, and Lead Data Architects, you will oversee and guide the deep-dive analysis, documentation of complex data flows, and the scaling of our Enterprise Data Foundation.

Key Responsibilities & Leadership Accountabilities

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and task-manage a team of Technical Data Analysts/BAs. Establish best practices for data analysis, requirements gathering, and technical documentation across the squad.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Source Analysis: Form strong relationships with source system Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Oversee the deep-dive analysis of source systems, ensuring the team accurately validates assumptions and clarifies data usage.
• Strategic Data Mapping: Drive the strategy for mapping and documenting complex, current-state (AS-IS) data flows and reporting landscapes. Confidently facilitate high-level playback sessions and share architectural findings at both squad and domain levels.
• Requirements Architecture: Collaborate with report users and your BA team to refine data provisioning epics in the Data Lake, translating high-level business needs into detailed, actionable technical specifications for data modellers and engineers.
• Data Model Alignment: Oversee the definition and documentation of mappings from source systems into the Common Data Model (Base and Semantic layers), ensuring strict traceability and compliance with enterprise data standards.
• Governance & Quality Assurance: Review and sign off on data mapping deliverables, ensuring high proficiency, accuracy, and consistency across all technical data specifications.

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading, mentoring, or managing a team of Data BAs or Technical Analysts within a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Advanced Technical Skills: High proficiency in complex SQL and data analysis tools. You must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to interrogate data alongside your team when required.
• Enterprise Data Mapping: Extensive experience documenting complex data flows, source-to-target mapping, and reporting structures for large-scale data transformation projects.
• Technical Translation: Superb ability to translate vague or complex business requirements into rigorous technical briefs for data engineers and modellers.
• Agile Delivery: Solid familiarity with leading or operating within Agile frameworks (squads, epics, user stories, sprint planning).
• Stakeholder Management: Exceptional facilitation skills with the ability to engage, challenge, and align busy system SMEs and senior business stakeholders.
• Insurance or Financial Services domain knowledge is highly advantageous.
