Lead Technical Architect Location: Primarily Remote (occasional travel to Bristol, Manchester or London) Duration: ASAP - 31st Dec Our Client is hiring for a reputed client to provide technical leadership across the discovery and migration of a critical NHS Blood and Transplant application to Microsoft Azure.
This is a short-term project (3-4 months, starting 7 September), where your architectural governance will directly help enable a safe, resilient cloud move within a highly regulated environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead technical assurance from discovery through migration completion and service transition
- Validate the current 'as-is' architecture, including application, infrastructure, network, security and operational dependencies
- Define and assure the target Azure architecture, including landing zone alignment and key platform components
- Govern technical decisions and risks across NHSBT, Microsoft, and delivery teams
- Oversee security, resilience, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements
- Review migration approaches, sequencing, runbooks, readiness criteria, and escalation blockers
- Support operational readiness and final technical acceptance/sign-off recommendations
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience delivering Azure cloud migration programmes, confidently operating at SFIA 6/7 level
- Proven track record as a Lead Technical Architect on complex enterprise transformation work
- Strong understanding of Azure architecture, networking, identity/access management, security, backup/recovery and disaster recovery
- Ability to act as a credible technical design authority with senior stakeholders, including a hyperscaler partner
- Experience governing technical delivery across multiple stakeholder groups
