Summary: The Lead Service Designer role involves extensive experience in service design and user-centered design (UCD) approaches, particularly within agile teams and complex programs. The position requires strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with a focus on delivering service design methods and tools effectively. The role is flexible, allowing for remote work while also requiring regular visits to client offices in London. Key Responsibilities:
- Apply service design methods and tools within agile teams.
- Coach, mentor, or manage UCD/design teams.
- Run Discoveries and Alphas to GDS/NHS Service Standard.
- Facilitate remote and in-person workshops, meetings, and research sessions.
- Manage complex and ambiguous projects and organizational dynamics.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in service design and UCD approaches.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong facilitation skills for workshops and meetings.
- Experience in consultancy.
- Familiarity with GDS/NHS service standards.

Requirements:
- Experience:
- Extensive experience of service design and UCD approaches, including experience within agile teams and complex programmes
- Demonstrated application of service design methods and tools
- Experience in consultancy
- Coaching, mentoring, or management experience of UCD/design teams
- Familiarity with GDS/NHS service standards and assessments and experience of running Discoveries and Alphas to GDS/NHS Service Standard
- Sector experience in healthcare is a bonus
Skills:
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to gain buy-in for approach
- Strong facilitation skills for both remote and in-person workshops, meetings and research sessions
- Ability to manage complex, ambiguous projects and organizational dynamics
- Skills and experience in related disciplines such as business change management, product design, content and communication design, or training design are a plus
