ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is a major UK public sector organisation responsible for delivering essential digital services.

Its technology teams are undertaking an ambitious modernisation programme, moving towards a true DevOps operating model with greater automation, improved monitoring and faster, more reliable delivery.

THE PRINCIPAL ORACLE DBA ROLE

As a Principal Oracle DBA, you will work within a specialist DBA team supporting and modernising critical Oracle database environments hosted in AWS.

You will provide technical leadership and guidance to Senior DBAs while helping drive the transition towards a more automated DevOps operating model.

You will be responsible for maintaining stable, secure and highly available databases while supporting upgrades, migrations, performance optimisation and automation.

The environment supports a range of Oracle technologies, including Oracle E-Business Suite R12, SOA, WebLogic, Portal, IAM, OHS and APEX.

You will also contribute to CI/CD, infrastructure automation, monitoring and alerting, scripting and continuous improvement across the database estate.

PRINCIPAL ORACLE DBA ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Expert-level Oracle DBA experience
  • Strong AWS experience, particularly EC2, RDS, Lambda and S3
  • Oracle 10g/11g/12c experience across Unix/Linux environments
  • Expert Oracle SQL tuning – execution plans, indexes, hints and optimiser behaviour
  • Strong PL/SQL application upgrade and migration experience
  • Expert experience with Oracle E-Business Suite R12
  • Experience with SOA, WebLogic, Portal and IAM
  • Experience with EBS Concurrent Managers
  • WebLogic clustering and JVM tuning
  • Oracle installation, patching and upgrades
  • RMAN and OEM experience
  • Strong scripting/automation experience
  • Experience creating and using AWS CloudFormation templates
  • Strong CI/CD and continuous delivery/deployment experience
  • Practitioner-level Git experience
  • Agile product delivery experience
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and knowledge-transfer skills

Desirable

  • Flyway or similar database version-control tooling
  • Strong DevOps transformation experience
  • Experience automating database administration and operational processes
