Summary: The Lead IaC Developer role involves leading the transformation and automation of an enterprise-scale Azure environment for a global organization. This hands-on position requires expertise in Bicep and a strong understanding of the Azure ecosystem, focusing on best practices and scalable deployment frameworks. The developer will collaborate with various teams to ensure effective infrastructure delivery and compliance. This is a six-month contract role with remote working options in the U.K.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect modular libraries: Design, build, and maintain reusable Bicep modules and private registries to standardise Azure deployments
- End-to-End automation: Integrate Bicep solutions into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Security & governance: Implement Azure Policy and “Guardrails as Code” to enforce compliance, security, and cost control
- State management: Migrate legacy ARM templates and manual builds into clean, maintainable Bicep code
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects and engineering teams to deliver scalable, production-grade infrastructure
Key Skills:
- Advanced Bicep Skills: Deep understanding of loops, conditionals, scopes (management groups/tenants), and deployment scripts
- Azure Ecosystem: Strong experience with Networking (VNETs, Peering, DNS), Compute (VMs, Load Balancers) and Identity (RBAC, Managed Identities)
- Tooling: Solid experience with Git, Azure CLI and PowerShell
